Feathers can also function as fetishes. Shamans with the help of special texts, songs, they were able (and still today) to communicate with the spirits of fetishes to remind them to their role and to entice them to action.
The North American indigenous peoples considered the pens as present to be used for healing and magic. At the same time, the number and type of feathers worn by humans, as well as the way they were carried, symbolized the status of the people in the tribe. The white feathers were said to be the pledge of friendship, while the brightly colored pens were “good drugs” and the black feathers were cursed and only used by witches.
In Tahiti they thought that if your enemy accepted a bouquet of red feathers from you, he would never again be able to resist you, and you would always win over him.
Based on a European superstition, if they put a feather in the bride’s bouquet, without the groom’s knowledge, they will both be rich.
According to an other beliefs, if a bird’s feather falls in front of one’s feet, it must be taken and kept because it can keep all evil away.
Different feathers can also be used for various magic purposes:
Pigeon: love (especially long lasting). Carrying on you prevents force on others will on you. In America, it was considered unfortunate to wear its feathers in the hat.
Eagle: protection, power. According to an English custom, if one wants to keep the fog away from his garden, he has to hang up eagle feather on the four corners of his garden.
Goose: Attracting love, crossing hedges.
Falcon: Protection.
Ostrich: Truth
Owl: wisdom, mysteries of the night, protective amulet. The Siberian peoples used it against evil, and many North American tribes also decorated their ritual clothing for protection against witches. And the Kazakhs catch living owls to tear off their fine feathers from under their tail, which they were told to bring luck (the birds were then released).

Peacock: good against evil eye but in many places they feels unfortunate, and the “eyes” on it use to feel as evil.
Erithacus rubecula: A feather from a living specimen can be a very good amulet.
Raven: afterlife. In Asia, it was attributed to magic power, and whoever wore them, could never be defeated in battle. The Finns considered the bird to bring bad luck, although a feather, which can bring good luck, is in principle under its wing.

Help from the spirit world: Meaning of different colored feathers and messages
Have you ever wondered what it means to find a special bird feather? It is also a way for the spirit world to send you spiritual signals, to show you how to continue what you need to do. Likewise, a sign can be a gravel, a butterfly, etc. You just have to recognize and understand.
Even in ancient times, it was believed that feathers and other objects, such as coins, beings, such as birds, butterflies, and dragonflies, angels or previously lost loved ones, led to signs of good, right way.
Find a feather in a magical moment. The feather represents flight and freedom, soaring, a higher viewpoint, limitlessness and unrestricted existence. The different colors and color combinations give them extra meaning (see the different colors below).

Colours and its meanings:
The interpretation of the feathers as guidance comes from the prehistoric times. It represents flight, freedom, soaring, a higher perspective, limitlessness and unrestricted existence. In Indian opinion, it is matter what color we find.
The members of the Indian people attributed special importance, great spiritual understanding to the color and meaning of the feathers. The greatest care was taken with any feather that “got” into their way, and they were worn as a sacred gift, a strong talisman in battle.
Before you read the meaning of the color of the pens, first look for the answer to a few questions. Do I have any special personal relationship with this color? What does this color mean to me, what is its universal meaning? Is the feather a color of recognition? When choosing a color, listen to your first impression, feeling.
Below we briefly summarize the meaning of possible colors.
White
– cleaning, spirituality, hope, trust, faith, protection, peace, heaven, angels, blessing and wisdom.
Red
– root chakra (money, wealth, security, career), physical vitality (energy, vitality), action, luck, passion, emotion, courage.
Blue
– throat chakra (communication, acceptance, telling the truth) peace, inspiration, mental abilities and knowledge, relationship with spirits, defense and spiritual consciousness.
Yellow
– solar chakra (inner intuition, happiness), blessings and wisdom in relation, powerful solar energy, intelligence, playfulness, joy, happiness, mental alertness, vision.
Green
– heart chakra (love, emotions, relationships, forgiveness), health, healing, nature, environment, supernatural beings (ghosts), plant spirits, animal souls, growth, fertility, harmony, unity, money , prosperity, success.
Orange
– sacred chakra – (sex, physical relationships, love, appetite, attraction), energy, change, optimism, ambition, success, new ideas, willpower, creativity, physical love, independence.
Rose colour
– unconditional love, love, feelings, friendship, caring soul, compassion, harmony, giving, empathy, kindness, gentleness, loyalty, honor, inspiration.
Grey
– peace and neutrality (since it is halfway between black and white), credibility, flexibility.
lila
– crown chakra (universal consciousness, spiritual relationship), elevated spiritual growth and experience, higher level thought.
Brown
– earth, stability, perseverance, home, friendship, respect.
Black
– protection, warning, negative energy, death (like a closed chapter), mystical wisdom, growth or increased wisdom. When the feather are iridescent, bright blacks, they can be a great mystical insight
Colour combinations:
Black and white mixed feathers represent protection, unification.
Black indicates a very deep spirituality mixed with lilac. The signal must be interpreted as a mystical sign.
Black, white and blue mixed feathers indicate a change of horizon.
A brown and black striped pattern (like a pheasant feather) means a balance between body and soul.
Brown and white mixed feather means happiness.
If the feathers are red and green, you are getting financial help. This is a very lucky sign.
The gray and white feathers symbolize hope together.

Feathers – angel presence
The surest sign of visiting angels is that white feathers appear on places as unlikely as possible.
If you find such a feather, keep it so you can get closer to celestial messengers. Even with skeptics, it is sometimes the case that after a debate about the existence of angels, they find a tiny white pen on their clothes – a celestial message proving the presence of angels.
